Our Mission
At Ditch Life Publishing, we believe every writer deserves a place to begin, and that it’s never too early, too late, or too unconventional to start.
We’re an independent publishing company dedicated to supporting emerging writers of all ages as they find their voices, take creative risks, and make their way into the publishing world. We understand how intimidating it can be to put your work out into the world, especially when you’re searching for that first opportunity. Sometimes, all a writer needs is someone willing to take a chance on them. We want to be that place.
For many of our writers, Ditch Life may be their first publication, and we’re proud to be part of that beginning. We see ourselves as not just a publisher, but a launching pad. We want our writers to leave Ditch Life not only with a published piece, but with greater confidence in their work and a firsthand understanding of the editorial and publishing process.
We believe publishing should be collaborative. Our writers work closely with us throughout the editorial process, giving them the opportunity to experience what thoughtful, intentional editing can do for a piece of writing. We’ll help you refine grammar and structure, ask questions that encourage new ideas, challenge you to look at your work from different perspectives, and help make your voice as strong and clear as it can be.
But we’ll never ask you to lose what makes your writing yours.
We aren’t here to rewrite your story or shape your voice into something that fits a mold. We’re here to help you hear your own voice more clearly. We believe the best editing doesn’t take something away from a writer— it helps reveal what was already there.
Ditch Life is a home for authenticity, individuality, experimentation, and writers who aren’t afraid to take the road less traveled. Whether you’ve been writing for years or are finally giving yourself permission to call yourself a writer, there is room for you here.
We hear your quiet manifestations. We see your big dreams. We believe in the stories you haven’t told yet and the ones you’re still figuring out how to tell.
Your writing will evolve. Your voice will grow. Your ideas will change. And we’ll be right there with you—adapting, learning, and growing together.
